Our teaching approach recognizes that all objects have a history, and our curriculum combines lessons on the history of furniture, ceramics, silver, clocks, paintings, glass, textiles and decorative arts with practical techniques to help students recognize what makes an object authentic. Students will learn how the history of an object, its production method and the quality of its workmanship relate to its cultural significance and monetary value.

Through a combination of theoretical learning and real-world application, AntiqueNest Design will teach students about the different styles found in antiques, typical methods used for their restoration, how to determine if an item is authentic or a reproduction, and how to assess its condition. With all of these elements in mind, you’ll learn how to evaluate the items you see in stores, at flea markets, in galleries and auctions, or even in other people’s homes.
